Overview

  • The Availability Led Search is a capability within webConnect ODP that provides your agents with the ability to search for product availability independent of rates.
  • It displays the product availability in a grid across a range of dates that the agent can scroll back and forward through as required.
  • Once product is found the agent can click on the Availability and be taken through to Online Bookings Add Service page.

Pre-Requisites

  • The Online Availability Search is a feature included in webConnectODP as part of the 'Distribution Edition' of Tourplan in Version 3.
  • webConnectODP needs to have been installed on your server by your local Tourplan Helpdesk.
  • Basic configuration of the Online Availability Search has been completed in conjunction with consultancy from your local Tourplan Helpdesk.

Setup

  • In order for the Online Availability Search menu control to appear in webConnectODP it needs to be enabled in the webConnect configuration file.
    • The webConnectODP configuration file is located in your site folder: site\config\webConnect.config
    • This is a text file that can be edited with any text editor (commonly Notepad or WordPad, NOT Microsoft Word).
    • The key to enable the Online Availability Search is as follows:

  • To hide search parameters that are not relevant to availability search, edit the key 'disabledAvailabilitySearchSections' in the webConnect configuration file – site\config\webConnect.config:

  • To control the descriptions that appear on the Availability grid at the of Supplier level edit the key 'supplierDescriptionForAvailibility' in the webConnect configuration file – site\config\webConnect.config:

                Items in the value list must be fields of type: Supplier 

  • To control the descriptions that appear on the Availability grid at the of Option level edit the key 'optionDescriptionForAvailibility' in the webConnect configuration file – site\config\webConnect.config:

                Items in the value list must be fields of type: OptionGeneral

  • To configure the text for the online availability search menu item, amend the value in the labels XML file under your site folder (site\labels.xml) in the <Labels context="default"> section of the file:

 This is an xml file that can be edited with any text editor (commonly Notepad or WordPad, NOT Microsoft Word)

  • To control whether units or descriptions are returned in the grid then this is controlled by the following lines in the webConnect configuration file – site\config\webConnect.config:

The following setting will control whether Units or text will be returned if availability exists.

If set to "" then the available units will show

  

If set to "OK" then text will show


The following configuration settings can control optional trext descriptions for On Request, Free Sell and Not Available.

  • To change the labels that appear on the Availability Search, amend the value in the labels XML file under your site folder (site\labels.xml) in the <Labels context="AvailabilitySearch.aspx"> section of the file:
